We are the Van Slykes - Alex, my amazing wife, Stephanie, and our collie/golden rescue pup named Iris, who happens to be blind. Stephanie and I are pediatric therapists by day, crafters by night. We love traveling, eating good food, fixing up our historic home, and spending quality time with our loved ones. There’s not a single part of this that I could make happen without the support of my wife.

My start in leatherwork was a simple one, but a meaningful one. My grandfather told me that his and and my great grandfather’s leather tools needed a new home. I immediately said yes, and while it took me a while after accepting all those tools to begin learning to use them, I cherish both the tools themselves and the creative outlet that they have provided me. While I have purchased many new tools in order to improve my craft, I still utilize a few of those tools to this day. Leather work is something I truly enjoy, and it excites me that I can share that passion with all of you!
